Reflection Post 2

Since my last post, I have made 2 scrunchies and part of a dress for my mannequin!



Since my last post, I have learned how to stitch fabric together, how to make scrunchies, and how to properly finish a project. I completed my research through YouTube. The following video is what I followed:

I followed the 2nd method

Making the scrunchies went well, I finished both in one day. I was just concerned about the fabric not properly doing justice to the design. As well as I just improvised with the dress and didn't follow a pattern. The challenge was to decide what I wanted for the dress on the mannequin.

I have not made any changes to my Genius Project yet because I am on schedule and moving quickly. So my plans are still the same!

A question that came up is: what fabric would be best to make the dress I want? I could research and ask people with experience what they think would be best, to find out the answer.

The dress for the mannequin took up the majority of the time. I believe that this was a success because it was getting me ready to make my own dress.

In the next step of my learning, I see figuring out what I want to do and possibly even starting on sewing a part of the dress.

Before the next step in my project, I need to get better fabric, and find patterns to guide me towards designing what I want for my final project!

Reflection Post 1

  Reflection: #1                                                                                      Date: October 19, 2023 Part 1 Since my last post, I have started my sewing journey!  I have learned how to stitch fabric. In this project, I used the running baste stitch and the blanket stitch. I got my research from Homedit , this article was by Brittney Smart. https://www.homedit.com/how-to-sew/#Blanket%20Stitch It shows you different basic stitches and goes into detail about each one.  Something that went well, I finished a project. But I’ve gone to FABRICLAND to look for fabric, patterns, thread, etc. I got most of my research primarily from a family friend with much sewing knowledge.
