Part 1
Since my last post, I have started my sewing journey!
I have learned how to stitch fabric. In this project, I used the running baste stitch and the blanket stitch. I got my research from Homedit, this article was by Brittney Smart. https://www.homedit.com/how-to-sew/#Blanket%20Stitch It shows you different basic stitches and goes into detail about each one.
Something that went well, I finished a project. I got the idea from Maya about creating something to hold my needles. A challenge I faced was cutting the fabric. I believe that the scissors I’m using aren’t sharp enough. For next time, I need to keep this in mind.
For the first step of my Genius project, I was thinking about only practicing stitches but I had more time on hand so I created a needle holder. It is an eraser with fabric.
I don’t really have any questions after this period of learning. I’m just wondering about where to go from here.
Sewing the eraser took up the majority of my time. I see this project as a success because I had a 2 in 1. At first, I practiced my stitches, then I made something out of it. This is very useful even though it might not look the best.
As my next step in learning, I see myself starting to make scrunchies and maybe even start designing what I want for my end goal.
I have everything to complete my next step in learning!
