Reflection Post 3

Since my last post, I haven’t done anything physically. But I’ve gone to FABRICLAND to look for fabric, patterns, thread, etc.




I got most of my research primarily from a family friend with much sewing knowledge. As well, I went online and searched how to read sewing patterns. I found this website explained it best; https://www.thecreativecurator.com/how-to-read-sewing-patterns/ 


Something that went well was that I now have most of the materials to continue my project. Since I didn't really do much I haven't encountered any challenges.


I have not yet made any changes to my Genius Project because I believe that I'm still well on track and feel that what I'm planning is pretty reasonable.


I haven't had any questions about my project during this time.


The majority of my time during this period was purchasing everything I need for the future. Since this post was very close to the last one and I couldn't do anything last week; I think of this as a success.


The next step is to get started on my dress. This will include picking a pattern, starting sewing, and researching as I go.


Since I got everything in this step I don't need to get anything else!

Reflection Post 1

  Reflection: #1                                                                                      Date: October 19, 2023 Part 1 Since my last post, I have started my sewing journey!  I have learned how to stitch fabric. In this project, I used the running baste stitch and the blanket stitch. I got my research from Homedit , this article was by Brittney Smart. https://www.homedit.com/how-to-sew/#Blanket%20Stitch It shows you different basic stitches and goes into detail about each one.  Something that went well, I finished a project. I got the idea from Maya about creating something to hold my needles. A challenge I faced was cutting the fabric. I believe that the scissors I’m using aren’t sharp enough....
